History/Pictures

Huntington, WV and the Tri-State of WV/KY/OH is a wonderful region to live and work…and visit!

There are many reasons to celebrate and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, and discover the artistic talents and welcoming warmth of so many in the community.

John Mandt Jr of Stewarts Original Hot Dogs had the original thought for the annual WV Hot Dog Festival. John came to iHeart Media-Huntington to develop, build, promote, manage and execute this annual festival. We’ve enjoyed 17+ years celebrating something unique about our state, region and city…and look forward to sharing it with you for 17+ more years together!

July was chosen for each year's WV Hot Dog Festival (July is National Hot Dog Month, afterall). iHeart Radio wanted to give folks another great reason to come celebrate in downtown Huntington and beautiful Pullman Square, and all agreed they wanted to choose a charity that would benefit children in our own Tri-State region of WV/KY/OH.

On Saturday, July 30th, 2005, the WV Hot Dog Festival was born. The festival raised $8000 the first year for the kids.

With the valuable help of business sponsors, contest participants, volunteers, and festival-goers, the annual WV Hot Dog Festival has raised OVER $250,000 to date, all used to help children in treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illness, in partnership with Mountain Health Network’s Hoops Family Children's Hospital.

It is important to our iHeart Radio family (KEE100FM/103.3 WTCR/B97FM/106.3 "The Brew"/News Radio 800 WVHU/and FOX Sports Radio 1420), along with the top hot dog businesses and community-minded area sponsors, these donations are raised to help our local children in need. Any sponsorship level, and/or donation amount is appreciated and valued. Contact us to find out how you can make a tax deductible donation or help sponsor the festival, or click on the DONATE BUTTON directly to your left on this page to make a direct donation to the Hoops Family Hospital. This is a SECURE PAY DONATION LINK. Be sure to choose "WV Hot Dog Festival" on the drop down, so your donation will count toward the festival's annual check presentation total to Hoops Family Children's Hospital.

We hope you plan to attend (bring the kids and the family dog too), participate in the contests, eat some delicious hot dogs, shop our vendors and booths, enjoy the amazing music and entertainment, buy a souvenir t-shirt, take home some fresh produce, enjoy the day with us at beautiful Pullman Square and downtown Huntington, and consider making a donation to the WV Hot Dog Festival before, and/or during the event. We add fresh new activities, contests, games and entertainment each year…so there’s no way to have a boring day at our WV Hot Dog Festival!

We are looking forward to a fun day with you each year at the annual WV Hot Dog Festival! (Always the last Saturday in July each year). Expect even more things to see, do, hear, experience, enjoy, and sponsor each year! The money raised stays local to help the children in our beloved region. We hope you always will join us for a great day of the finest hot dogs from our city, state, and Tri-State region, live music, contests, car shows, rides, displays, crafts, arts, treats, and all-breed and the annual wiener dog races at high noon!

Don't forget to mark your calendar for the last Saturday in July, invite family and friends from out of town for the weekend, and know we sincerely invite YOU, YOUR FAMILY, AND THE FAMILY DOG! It's always a dog-gone good time!
