Owner-Dog Look Alike Contest

Yes, you've noticed the resemblance ... maybe friends and family tell you that you and your dog look alike!

Best Friends? Yes! Twins? Maybe! Here's your chance to showcase you & your dog, and win some neat prizes in the process! Click here to view our flyer!

Register day of the event by 9:45am...and you and your pooch can strut your stuff together at 10am! Remember all donation entry fees to this and every contest throughout the WV Hot Dog Festival, goes straight to the kids in our region battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses...so come and compete, and encourage your friends to do the same with you!

Dress alike, or just come to walk the contest runway and pose for a dual souvenir "mug shot" for your chance to win a bragging right's trophy and some neat prizes for both you and your 4-legged canine best friend. Sponsored by CLUB PET, and brought to you in part by the hard working "DOWNTOWN LIVE" Regional Chamber of Commerce committee, register at the festival registration tables until just before 10am...then come to the Pullman Square courtyard area and strut your stuff with your "4-legged twin!" Judging begins at 10:15am. $5 entry fee donation to the kids' charity. Pre-register here, or register day of event. Register the morning of the event at the event registration table...located at the Pullman clock...and be ready to "strut your stuff with your furbaby!"

Also, remember to enter your canine in the Dog Costume Contest & Pooch Parade sponsored by PEPSI of Huntington (immediately following the Dog/Owner Look Alike Contest), and race your dashing dachshund in the annual WV Wiener Dog Races at high noon!

We're attempting to build this year's Wiener Dog Races to 150 racing wieners--in effort to vie for the title of America's BIGGEST Wiener Dog Race Competition! Help us! Tell all your family & friends who own darling dachshunds--there will be 10 "heat" race winners for prizes (for owner and pup), and the Championship Race winner gets prizes, a trophy, and $100! The Annual WV Wiener Dog Races & $100 Dachshund Dash is sponsored by our own locally-owned Cavalier Wieners (of course!)

Special Note: In addition to the free souvenir dog/owner "mug/shot" for the dog/owner look-alike contestants--Ohio Valley Camera Club will be set up at the festival for the day, to take professional pics of you and/or your dog as you wish for purchase, and 1/2 of the proceeds of the day will go to the kids' charity.

Costumed or not, walk your dog in the Pooch Parade. Or entice your Dachshund to dash across the finish line in the Wiener Dog Races. Perhaps you'l want to do both! Entry donations: $10 for Wiener Dog Races, and $10 for the Pooch Parade. Donations benefit the childrens' cancer unit at the Edwards' Comprehensive Cancer Center, giving kids a fighting chance against cancer. Check in at the registration table. Parade: Any dog can be shown; but only costumed dogs compete for prizes in the contest. Race: 10 qualifying heats of 10 Dachshunds each, then the $100 Dachshund Dash to determine the overall winner.

Judges' decision is final. Dogs must be leashed, vaccinated, healthy and tame. No more than two dogs per handlers, please.
